Age 88, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at home surrounded by his family. He was born and lived the majority of his life on the family farm in Millerton, PA. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ed was a member of the 75th Infantry Division during WW II where his military assignment took him through England, Germany, Belgium, France and the Netherlands. Ed was a faithful employee for 48 years at Horwitz Paper and Packaging Company in Elmira, NY. Upon his retirement in 1989, Ed was awarded the Golden Eagle Award by the National Paper and Trade Association for recognition of his dedicated service and outstanding contribution to the paper and plastics distribution industry. Surviving Ed are: his daughter-in-law, Merita Sheive, grandsons: Jeremy (Ann), Ian (Lori), Ryan & Taylor; brother: Lee (Molly) Sheive; dear friend: Verna Clark; sister-in-law, Irene Ostrander; brother-in-law: Ralph Heatherington; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. His beloved son, Edward L. Sheive Jr. in 1992, and his loving wife, Dorothy Heatherington Sheive in 2002, predeceased him. Family and friends are invited to attend Ed's funeral service on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY at 1:00 PM. Lay Pastor John P. Knapp will celebrate his life and honor his memory.
