Steele,Edward F., MD Eye Physician and Surgeon was born February, 17, 1921 the son of the late Rae B. and Gertrude (Jones) Steele passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center at the age of 86. Edward is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Katherine Jane (Patterson); beloved children, Sue Steele Lynough (Robert II) of Elmira, NY; Edward Rae Steele (Kathleen Healy) of East Amherst, NY; Katherine E. Steele of Elmira, NY; very dear sister, Eleanor J. Steele also of Elmira, NY; much-loved grandchildren, Elizabeth Katherine and Nicholas Robert Lynough of Elmira, NY; Christopher Edward and Gregory Edward Steele of East Amherst, NY. Dr. Steele was proud of his undergraduate work at the University of Michigan with medical school and the Albany Medical College where he received his MD degree. He was an Eye Physician and Surgeon in private practice in Elmira for 35 years. He was on staff at St. Josephs Hospital as well as the Arnot Ogden Medical Center where he was also President of the Medical Staff. At the request of Dr. Steele his services will all be held privately at the convenience of his family. He will be laid to rest in the Woodlawn Cemetery also at a time convenient to his family. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Albany Medical College 43 New Scotland Ave. Albany, NY 12208 or to the SPCA Animal Shelter Route # 352 Elmira, NY 14903 in his memory.
