Age 84, of Rocking Chair Road Horseheads, NY passed away on Monday, December 20 2010 at his home. He was born October 25, 1926 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Edwin E. and Ida (Shaffer) Mosher. Ed was survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Lucia (Devon) Mosher; daughter, Denise Mosher (Rick) Madl; sons, Ronald (Diane) Sempler, Gerald Sempler and Daniel (Kathe) Sempler of Horseheads; grandchildren, Danielle (Josh) Pierce, Hannah, Joshua, Caleb, Joseph, Rebecca and Benjamin Madl; Ryhan (fiance' Jessica), Sarah (Dave) Benson, Tiffani Sempler, Nichole (Brandon) Eaton, Dustin and Cory Sempler; his brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Kathy Mosher; great granddaughter, Camryn Eaton. Ed was also very excited about the upcoming additions to the family, three new great grandchildren. Ed served in the US Army in Japan with the first Calvary and 800th MPs. He attended training at GMC Auto and Atlantic Refining and eventually became a local business owner of E & L Automotive Services of Elmira, NY for 38 years. Ed took extreme pride in his work and his business and provided excellent service to his customers. He was a chartered member of the West Elmira Fire Department; member of the Gasoline Service Association and past President and life member; life member of the Elks Lodge #62 Elmira; 53 year member of the Elmira Heights American Legion; life member of the Big Flats Volunteer Fire Department and past Commissioner; life member of the New York - Penn Fire Association and past President. For many years, Ed had horses and loved them like he loved all animals. He had a passion for woodworking and repairing old furniture, working in his flower beds and loved old cars. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Sunday, December 26, 2010 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Funeral services honoring his life will be held there on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Bryan Kain will celebrate Ed's service. Interment will follow in the Rural Home Cemetery Big Flats, NY where the Chemung CountyVeterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Mosher Military Honors and Pastor Kain will offer the committal prayers.
