MESSING, Edwin W. ?Dutch? of Pine City, NY passed away Saturday, December 10, 2005 at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Elmira, NY. He was born on June 30, 1907 in Elmira son of the late Charles and Mary Messing. He is pre-deceased by his wife Helen Rose Messing, and brothers, Karl and George.He is survived by his son, Hunter Messing; his brother, and sister-in-law, Clarence and Jery Messing; sisters-in-law, Helyn and Mary Lou, and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. For over 75 years he worked as Claims Adjuster and Office Manager with the law office of Buck, Danaher, Ryan and McGlenn. He was a past councilman in the town of Southport, NY. Edwin was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post # 443 for 58 years. He was a lifetime member of the Elmira Elks Lodge. Edwin enjoyed skeet and trap shooting as a member of the Fur, Fin and Feather Club of Lowman, NY.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
