Bortle, step-daughter; DeeAnn (Verle) Harper of Elkins, West Virginia, 3 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren, sister; Millicent Ogdon of California, brother; James (Lucille) Bortle of Newborn, GA, several nieces and nephews.Bort was a retired heavy equipment operator and mechanic for Dalrymple Gravel & Contracting Company for over 30 years. He was kind of a ?fixture? and ?go-for? for his friend Steve Stickler, at Steve?s Body Shop.Bort was a former Lieutenant of the Pine City Fire Department, member of Waddington Masonic Lodge #393 of St. Lawrence County. Former Shriner?s Club member, former member of Corning Consistory,. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of Cashmere Grotto, member of the Loyal Order of Moose Club #1476 of Horseheads, NY, member of American Legion Post # 442 of Horseheads, NY, member of the V.F.W. Rex Field Post #901 of Elmira, NY and he was very will known and liked in the community. It was Bort?s request that he be cremated and there be no calling hours. A Private Funeral Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Mr. Bortle?s cremation will take place at South Port Crematorium, in the town of Southport, NY.
