Age 89, of Elmira, NY passed away on Friday, January 28, 2005 at Bethany Manor, Horseheads, NY.She was born July 3, 1915 in Lowman, NY the daughter of Ada Seely and Fredrick Van Buren. Predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Roy M. Dahlhaus and infant son William.Eleanor is survived by her brother-in-law and sister- in-law, Jack and Beverly Dahlhaus of Elmira, NY, several nieces and nephews. Special niece and nephew; Kay Moyer of TN, and Charles Dahlhaus of Breesport, NY.She was a member of North Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, Deaconess for 6 years, choir member for several years and taught Sunday School. Eleanor worked in advertising for over 30 years, the last 17 years as Advertising Manager at Rosenbaum?s, quitting in 1969 for health reasons. She won several advertising awards, including the Elmira-Corning Advertising Club ?Ad Man? of the year, the Printers Ink Silver Medal for contributions to advertising and the community. Named to ? Who?s Who of American Women?, elected to ?Foremost Women in Communication?. Charter member of the Elmira-Corning Advertising Club, holding several offices, including the board of directors for several terms. President of the Chemung County Cancer Society for 5 years and board of directors for 12 years, the Community Chest for 12 years, publicity chairman for several years. She also did public relations for the American Red Cross; member of the League of Women Voters, Vice President and on the board of directors for 4 years. Eleanor was also very interested in the history of Elmira, collecting old Elmira postcards & trading cards and researching their subject matter.It was her request that there be no calling hours and that a private graveside service be held at the convenience of the family.
