Elijah Thomas NistOf Elmira, NYAge 8, passed away into the arms of his angel on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong in Rochester, NY. The beloved son of Jason and Tracy (Walker) Nist, was born in Elmira on July 11, 2001. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his three sisters: Karlee and Chelsea Nist; Lyric Boothe all at home; grandparents, Thomas & Evelyn Avagliano of Pine City, NY; Gregory & Lori Walker of Pennsylvania; Jerry & Susan Berbary of Elmira, NY; Thomas & Kathy Nist of Rochester, NY; great grandparents, Thomas & Bev Nist of Florida; Carolyn Coons of Horseheads, NY; Anita Kirk of Elmira, NY; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins including: Brett & Erin Morseman with their daughters, Skyler & Mackenzie; and all of his wonderful friends at the Parley Coburn Elementary School. Elijah loved his dogs, "Fozzie" & "Abbey"; cats, "Bumble Bee" & "Alley". He enjoyed watching wrestling and football and playing both as well. He also loved sneaking a drink of his dad's Pepsi when he wasn't looking. Elijah was very outgoing and had a contagious, spirited smile. He was an excellent student, who was well liked and respected by his fellow students and his teachers. He loved skiing and playing football in the Elmira Small Fry on the Sheriff's team. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Friday, December 11, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services celebrating Elijah's life will be held there on Saturday, December 12th, at 2:00 PM. His loving grandfather, Reverend Jerry Berbary will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
