Ellwood C. Voorhees Age 98, of Gillett, PA passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Bradford County Manor following a period of declining. Ellwood was born June 12, 1918 in Daggett, PA, the son of the late Manley and Genevieve (Butcher) Voorhees. Ellwood spent his working career as a farmer and contractor on the hilltop in the Coryland neighborhood of Gillett, where he resided to this day. He stayed busy his entire life and continued to raise beef cattle on his land well into his 80s. He was a lover of nature and spent a great deal of time observing numerous species of wildlife on his farm. Ellwood was predeceased by his wife, Angie (Johnson) Voorhees; son, Dr. Ellwood Voorhees Jr.; brothers and sisters, Sherman, Floyd, Lorraine, Harriet and Pat. He is survived by a brother, Manley Voorhees Jr.; sister, Molly (Lee) Shieve; sons, Thomas (Susan) Smith, Larry (Lydia) Voorhees and David (Pat) Voorhees; daughters, Shirley (David) Cleveland, Sylvia Miller (Dan Lewis) and Genevieve (George) Novak; daughter-in-law, Shari (McFadden) Voorhees; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Ellwood is also survived by a very dear friend, Pearl Spinney. Family and friends are invited to attend Graveside Services on Thursday, June 30, 2016 in the Daggett Cemetery (Church Street in Daggett, PA off Route #549) at 2:00 PM where the family will reflect on the life of their beloved father.
