Age 82, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2006.He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie (Paul) Isaacs, Marilyn (Richard) Lemoncelli; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother, James (Virginia) Peck; a niece and a nephew. Elmer was predeceased by his wife, Helen Marie Peck, in 1969. He served in the United States AirForce during WW II. Elmer joined the Southport Volunteer Fire Department in August of 1953, serving as Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Chief. At the occasion of his retirement from active duty he was Fire Police Captain. He served as president and member of the Board of Directors. He was recognized for 50 years of service, a recipient of the Lt. Milton H. Scott Memorial Award for Firefighter of the Year. Elmer was a delegate to Chemung County Firefighters Association and New York- Penn Firefighters Association.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira on Saturday, March 18, 2006 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM with Funeral and Committal Service there at 2:00 PM. Officers and members of the Southport Volunteer Fire Department will provide the honor guard with Chaplain William Vallet officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
