Elmer Whitney July 11, 1928- October 4, 2014of Jackson Summit, PAElmer peacefully passed away due to an extended illness.Elmer was raised by Cora and Minor Friends of Jackson Summit and considered them his parents.He was predeceased by brothers Wayne Whitney, Warren Whitney, Rosalie Fish and very close family, Harry and Almond Friends, Leah Friends Williams and Dorothea Marsh, all formally of Jackson Summit.Elmer is survived by close family Richard Kesterke II, Suzanne Peters, Leah Friends, Candy Foley, Sherri Foster and Terri Kramer, all formerly of Jackson Summit; niece, Anna Jelliff of Georgia and many, many friends.Elmer loved life and the people in it.He made friends wherever he went.Elmer enjoyed a life of farm work and a career on the highway crew in Tioga County for PENDOT.Elmer loved to travel and drove many miles in Tioga County being a helpful friend.Elmer made countless trips to Florida, cross country and eventually to Alaska with traveling companion David Fuller of Mainesburg, PA.Enormous thank you for the care Elmer received in his last years to Susquehanna Home Care & Hospice of Wellsboro and especially to Sheila Dauphinais and staff at Sheila’s Personal Care Home in Mansfield, Pa. where he found care, love and laughter. Family and Friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Saturday October 11, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with Funeral and Committal Service there at 11:00 AM.
