Age 101, of Chemung, NY passed away Friday, December 15, 2006.She is survived by her son, Roland Thomas; and daughter, Gretta T. Flanagan; son-in-law, Orlando P. Latini; grandchildren, Linda G. Buckley, James J. Latini, Thomas P. Latini, Vincent L. Latini, Lisa A. Alexander, Martha A. Shuman, Jeffrey J. Latini, Margaret E. Flanagan, Edward J. Flanagan; 14 great grandchildren. Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Jacob A. Thomas; daughter, Joyce A. Latini; grandsons, Michael J. Flanagan and Roland J. Thomas, also granddaughter, Sharon T. St. Pierre; great grandchildren, Kathryn B. Latini; daughter-in-law, Dorthea C. Thomas; also predeceased by 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Elsie was a teacher for over 25 years and taught at many rural schools. She was your typical farm wife and operated a fruit stand for many years, she enjoyed flower gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and boating on Seneca Lake. She was both a member and Treasury of Chemung United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She traveled extensively both in the United States and throughout the world. Elsie was a member of the Coachman Camping Club and enjoyed taking her grandchildren camping with her. She had a real talent for taking pictures and enjoyed doing Needle Work. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with funeral service there Wednesday at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Dan Burgess will officiate. Followed by graveside service in Chemung Cemetery, Chemung, NY.Those wishing may leave a Candle of Remembrance for the family in Obituaries at www.olthof.com
