Elwin E. Fitzwater

Elwin E. Fitzwater Age 79 of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Alta (Halsey) and Robert Fitzwater Sr. Elwin is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Nancy (Lyon) Fitzwater; six beloved children: Cindy (Tom) Young, Kim (Randy) Morgan, Bonnie (Jack) Hall, Karen Newell (Dave Baker), Dan (Dian) Fitzwater and David McMillan; adored grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters: Neva Granger, Dora Briggs and Anna Benson; in-laws: Joan (Bill) Ayers, Bill (Charlotte) Lyon and Gary (Debby) Lyon; along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his feline friend, "Mocha". Elwin was predeceased by his brother, Robert Fitzwater Jr. He was retired from the Hilliard Corporation after 37 years of dedicated service. Until his illness, he enjoyed being a driver for Woodbrook Assisted Living Residence. He enjoyed playing the guitar, relaxing at the lake and was a devoted family man. Family and friends are invited to gather at New Beginnings United Methodist Church 300 East Miller Street Elmira, NY on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 3 PM. The Reverend Leanne Zeck will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his honor may be directed to his favorite charity, St. Jude's Research Hospital, 505 North Parkway, Box # 3704, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of one's choice.
