Ernest L Smith

Age 78, went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 14, 2014 after declining health. He was born to the late James and Ella (Wells) Smith on January 26, 1936. Ernie, was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Beatrice Smith, son, Douglas and grandson, Ryan. He is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Morris of Elmira, NY: Amy Sindone of Spencer, NY; sons, Timothy (Tina) Smith of Gillett, PA; Robert Smith of Pine City, NY; Brian (Carrie) Smith of Pine City, NY; grandchildren, Brandon, Angel, Casie, Crystal, Brian Jr., Dillon, Carley, Nicole, Cameron, Zachary, Jacob, Joseph, Joshua, Shawna, Gregory and Thomas; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary (Lee) Zepp; Doris Knapp and good friend, George Holly. Ernie served his country by serving in both the US Army and the US Marine Corps. He retired from American LaFrance after several years of dedicated service. He enjoyed coaching and playing softball, bowling and hunting until losing his eye sight. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services honoring his life will follow the visitation. Interment will take place on Wednesday, March 19th at 10:00 AM in the Fitzsimmons Cemetery where the Marine Corp League will accord Mr. Smith with Military Honors.
