Age 79, formerly of Catalpa Drive Horseheads, NY, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 19, 2004 at the home of his nephew, Dennis Ryan, where he received the utmost love and care. He was born February 15, 1925 in Elmira, NY the son of the late John J.and Stella Yanowiak Ryan. Bob married Roberta Mae Haman. They celebrated many wonderful years of life and love together. On March 18, 2004 she preceded him in death. His survivors include his sister, Evelyn Crowley of Elmira Heights, NY; nephew, Dennis (Nancy) Ryan of Pine City, NY; nieces, Adele (Michael) Brajdich of North Huntington, PA; and Charlotte (Ronald) Agona of Greensburg, PA.His beloved and faithful canine companion, ?Honey Bun?, also survives ?Bob?. He was a Veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country during WWII and the Korean War. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart for his courageous and dedicated service. Bob retired from the New York State Department of Corrections in 1987 as a corrections officer after 32 years of service. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Sunday, August 22, 2004 from 2 to 5 PM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours (5:00 PM). The Reverend Larry Parker will officiate. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY. The family will provide their own flowers.
