Eugene W. Lawrence

Age 79, of Elmira, NY went to be reunited with his wife Doris, on Friday, January 12, 2007 at Elcor Health Service surrounded by his family. He is survived by his children, Jeanette L. and Paul Titus of Elmira, NY, Gene and Doreen Lawrence Jr. of Elmira, NY, Glenn and Diane Lawrence of Ormond Beach, FL, and Teresa Lawrence-Fields of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Colleen, and Anthony Lawrence, Stacey and Marlea Fields, Jason and Marty Titus, Kristine and Tiffany, Lawrence; also several loving relatives and friends. His loving wife Doris, preceded Eugene in death in 2003. He was the owner and operator of Lawrences Mobil in Elmira, NY for many years and was the last of the original friendly service Mobil Dealers; know to many as Mr. Mobil. Eugene was a member of the New York State Gasoline Dealers Association, a devoted Chicago Cubs and Indiana Hoosiers fan. He was a fan of auto racing especially Jeff Gordon of NASCAR, but most of all he was extremely proud to be the sponsor of the Lawrence Mobil Racing Team, he also sponsored the Elmira Pioneer Baseball team for over 10 years.Eugene was known for quick wit with many clichs. In his spare time he was known to play card games such as rummy or crazy eights and was quite a good artist. He was a United States Navy veteran and he and Doris enjoyed traveling. It was Eugenes request that there be no calling hours and a private service be held at the convenience of the family.
