Eva Longwell, teacher in the Elmira schools for 25 years, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the age of 90. Eva was born in Elmira to Joseph and Fanny (Krieger) Berry February 26, 1925. She was married to the late Frank Longwell for 50 years. They lived most of their lives in Elmira and Pine City, where they had a farm and raised a little of everything from sheep and cattle to pigeons, pigs and rabbits. They had a large vegetable garden and shared their food with family and friends. After retirement, they wintered for some years in Peoria, Arizona where they enjoyed watching their Chicago Cubs during spring training. Eva was a Jackals fan and had season tickets for some years. Hobbies included paint by numbers, stamp collecting, reading the latest books, watching sports and keeping up with world affairs. Survivors include daughters, Christine (Dario) Angeles of TX; Jean (Edward) Durkin of NC; sons, Frank Jr. (Nancy) and Joseph (Amy) of Pine City, NY; grandchildren, David, Adam, Karen, Brad, Jennifer and Stephen; great grandchildren, Ian, Ashlye, Katy and Jack; sister, Ann (Wayne) Bryant of Horseheads, NY. At Eva's request there will be no services and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
