Age 69, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 in the Seneca View Nursing Facility of the Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, NY, where she resided.She was born November 21, 1934 in Sullivanville, NY, the daughter of the late Claude and Grace (Fields) Bush.Evelyn married Kenneth A. Epler February 14, 1974 in the Town of Veteran. They have enjoyed 30 wonderful years of life and love together. Her survivors include her loving husband, Kenneth of Millport, NY; son, Donald Southard of Ashland, VA; daughter, Karen (Kent) Paxton of Richmond, VA; son, Dana (Paula) Southard of Elmira Heights, NY; sister, Margaret Pickering of Horseheads, NY; brother, James A. (Zonnie) Bush also of Horseheads, NY; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her step-children, Dennis (Karen) Epler of Elmira Heights, NY; David (Peggy) Epler of Horseheads, NY; and Laurie Epler, also of Horseheads, NY. Evelyn retired from the Horseheads School District Transportation Department after 29 years of faithful and dedicated service. She was a member of St. Matthew?s Episcopal Church in Horseheads, NY since 1953.At her request there will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 11:00 AM in St. Matthew?s Episcopal Church, 408 South Main Street, Horseheads, NY. The Reverend John Rafter will celebrate the services for Mrs. Epler. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 563 Jerusalem Hill Road, Elmira, NY 14901. Interment will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family. The Epler family would like to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to the following organizations for the love and care they gave to Evelyn: Homecare Services of Schuyler County, Caregivers of Horseheads, NY, Mercy Care Center of Elmira, NY; Seneca View Nursing Facility, and St. Matthew?s Episcopal Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY. A ?Candle of Remembrance? may be left for Evelyn?s family at www.olthof.com.
