Age 90, went home peacefully to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at the home of her son, Scott, in Prescott, AZ, where she received the utmost loving care. She was born November 27, 1914 in Santa Rosa, CA, the daughter of the late George Lemuel and Pearl G. (Cromwell) Ayers. Jean, as she was affectionately known, was predeceased by her husbands, Donald M. Winters and James Clark Mailer; brother, David Ayers; half brother, Samuel Talmadge ?Babe? Wood; half sister, Helen Connolly. She is survived by her beloved children, daughter and son-in-law, Susan D. and Douglas J. Pearson of Elmira Heights, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Scott T. and Maurita Winters of Prescott, AZ; step-daughter, Mary (Roger) Rigney of Folsom, CA; much-loved grandchildren, David D. (Cynthia) Pearson and Julia D. (Ben) Lau all of Elmira Heights, NY; Luke T. (Annamarie) Pearson of the Philippine Islands; great grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph, Phillip, and Rachelle Pearson; Cristian and Suyen Lau; Olivia, Jonathan, and Gloria Pearson; niece, Barbara (Mel) Schefer of Santa Rosa, CA; dear life-long friend, Ruby Nelligan of Santa Rosa, CA. Jean was the valedictorian of her High School class in Santa Rosa, CA. Prior to marrying; she enjoyed doing secretarial work for the county clerk of Santa Rosa. At the age of 28 she married. Her husband, Don, was a Marine Corps. officer and pilot, and she very much enjoyed the military life. After being widowed at the age of 42, Jean finished her collage education at the age of 48. She worked for the IRS as an auditor and an inspector and was also a social worker in Los Angeles County. At the age of 58 she re-married and lived in Santa Rosa until the time she went to live near her daughter in New York, where she spent the last 8 ½ years of her life. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service celebrating Jean?s life on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 3 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY 14904. The Reverend David Swartwood will officiate. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Luke T. and Annamarie Pearson, c/o 253 West 11th Street, Elmira Heights, NY 14903, to aid their missionary work in the Philippine Islands.
