Florence L. Conklin

Age 87, of 300 South Main Street, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 22, 2004. She was born November 29, 1916 in Elmira the daughter of the late Floyd A. and Florence L. (Elmore) Smith. Florence was preceded in death by her brothers, Gardiner E. Smith and Thaddeus E. Smith; granddaughter Heather R. Silver. She is survived by her loving daughters and son-in-laws, Sally and Donald Watson of Jacksonville, FL; Barbara and Donald Hulslander of Pine City, NY; Susan and Stephen Stanton-Reid of Honeoye Falls, NY; sister, Mary Barnett of Elmira, NY; beloved grandchildren, Donna (Michael) Wirth Powhaten, VA; Mark Watson of Jacksonville, FL; John (Kimberly) Silver of Elmira, NY; Jeremey Silver of Bloomfield, NJ; Brent Hulslander of Pine City, NY; Samantha Hughes of Elmira, NY; great grandchildren, John Silver II, Heather Silver, Brent Hulslander Jr., Christopher Wirth, Hanna Wirth and Katie Wirth and Mikayla Wirth; along with several nieces and nephews. Florence was a Registered Nurse throughout her life. For many years she worked at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center as an RN, then was a private duty nurse and finally worked at the Chemung County Nursing Facility until her health failed. In her earlier years she attended the Westside United Methodist Church, then the First Baptist Church and finally the Elmira Christian Center. Private Interment will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of her family. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in the Maranatha Bible Chapel at a date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Maranatha Bible Chapel c/o Building Fund 774 Sing Sing Road Horseheads, NY 14845.
