Florence S. Corbett 94, formerly of Troy, Pa, died peacefully at The Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Health Care (Founders) on Nov 22, 2013. Florence was born in West Newton, Pa, graduated with a BS in music from Indiana State College in Indiana, PA.She married Walter S. Corbett in 1942. While Walter served in WWII in the 3rd Division, she taught in Parker, PA and later, after having children, in St. Petersburg.After moving to Troy, Pa, she taught elementary school and music. She was an avid bridge player and loved teaching bridge to her friends.After retiring from teaching, she began doing needlework;especially, tatting and counted cross-stitch. She also loved quilting and made quilts for everyone in the family.Reading and crossword puzzles were also favorite pastimes.She enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog Sam, and will be sorely missed. She is survived by her son, Dr. William S. Corbett of Athens, PA and her daughter, Kathryn (Fred) Mack of Corning, NY and by her grandchildren; Ben (Nora) Corbett of Philadelphia, Jackie (Brett) Howarth of Manchester, NH, Chelsea Corbett of Pittsburgh, PA, Betsy Corbett of Binghamton, NY, Andrew (Logan) Mack of Troy, Pa, and Jessica (Florian) Zink of Gifhorn, Germany.Additionally, she has three great grandchildren; Clara and Olivia Zink and Oren Mack. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Walter S. Corbett;sister, Francis Rambo; two brothers, William and Milton Stoner and her cousin and dear friend, Gramma (Kay) Foote.
