Frances E. Palmer

Age 94, formerly of Elmira, died August 21 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 28. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira at 11 a. m. on Monday, August 29. She is survived by her sister, Pauline Olthof; nephew, Ronald O'Brien and wife, Judy O'Brien; niece, Joyce Hill and husband, Brent Hill; and numerous great nephews and nieces. She was born in Bradford County, PA in 1911 and moved to Elmira in 1919. She was a secretary for C & K Laundry and Chemung County Health Department. After her retirement in 1975, she and her late husband, Walter Palmer, moved to Keuka Lake, where she lived until 2003. She was a resident of Lakeview Apartments in Bath until her recent illness. She was a loving, generous woman with many talents. She was an avid gardener, an excellent cook, a master craftswoman in quilt making, crocheting, knitting, and home repairs, and a solver of challenging crossword puzzles.
