Fred C. Berry

Age 74, was born April 1, 1935 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Fred L. and Mary (Bartoo) Berry went home to be with his Lord on Monday, October 19, 2009 at his home. His brother, Donald Berry predeceased him. Fred married the love of his life, Esther Stafford October 10, 1953. They have enjoyed 56 wonderful years of life and love together. He is also survived by his beloved children and their spouses: Larry and Jennifer of Horseheads, NY; Kevin and Beth of Lawrenceville, PA; Daryl and Cindy of Tioga, PA; Linda and Jeff Wales of Millerton, PA; much loved grandchildren, Chad and Zack Berry, Courtney (James) Layton, Shannon (Justin) Shadduck, Jennifer (David) Campbell and Shawna Hoover. Other survivors include, sister, Dawn; sister-in-laws, Hazel Tillinghast, Christine Stafford and Donna Reed, along with several nieces and nephews. Fred retired from Dresser Rand in Painted Post after 39 dedicated years of service as a machine tool operator. He has enjoyed 12 additional years of continued retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and took great pleasure in hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. In recent years he simply enjoyed mowing his lawn on his John Deere tractor. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and Friday, October 23rd from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Funeral services honoring his life will follow the visitation at 11 AM. His friend and neighbor, the Reverend Douglas Hodge will celebrate Fred's service. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of his family in the Alder Run Cemetery Millerton, PA.
