Frederick Arthur Arndt

Frederick Arthur Arndt, 73, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014. He was born on January 4, 1941. Fred was the son of Arthur E. and Nellie Arndt (Husted). He served in the United States Army from December 20, 1965 to February 20, 1967 and received an Honorable Discharge. After the army, Fred worked at the A&P Plant until 1982. Next he worked at Kennedy Valve as a security guard. To further provide for his family, Fred took on a second full time job at St. Joseph's Hospital in housekeeping. Later he successfully transferred within to become a security guard, thus allowing him to work one 40 hour job and spend more time with his family. In the 70's, Fred became one of Jehovah's Witnesses and remained faithful through his life. He will be remembered as a loving husband and devoted father. Fred is survived by his wife of 52 years Lucille Arndt, two sons Charles F. Arndt, Edward R. Arndt (Naomi) and Fred's sole beloved grandson Nathan. He was predeceased by his father and mother Arthur E. and Nellie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 708 Lena Place, Elmira, NY. General visitation will be from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm with a Memorial Talk to be given at 2 pm by Stan Young. Arrangements are with the Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY. Those wishing to send flowers may send them directly to the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the Chemung County Nursing Facility for their excellent care.
