Frederick J. Drake

Was born February 22, 1918 in Elmira, the son of the late Leon F. and Marie (Cornish) Drake passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the age of 92. He is survived by his daughter, Rondalee (Troy) Powell and grandson, Cody Powell; son, Michael F. (Teddi) Drake and grandchildren, Courtney (Jamie) Mines, Michael Drake, Craig (Michelle) Drake, Jon Drake, Lindsay Drake and Maria Drake; son, David A. Drake; great grandchildren, Jamie Mines, Javon Mines, John Drake, Hailey Drake, Lacey Drake, Kloe Drake and Jamaree Mines; His beloved wife, Thelma (Leupelt) Drake, brother, Mike Drake and parents, Marie and Leon predeceased Fred. He served his country during World War II and received a purple heart. He was a member of the 450th Heavy Bomb Group. Fred also retired from Hardinge Brothers after many years of dedicated service. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira/Southport on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 5 pm to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 1:00 pm with the Revered Mark Erway officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Drake Military Honors.
