Ferris, Freeman F. age 97 of Bethany Village, Horseheads, NY Formerly of Elmira, Painted Post, and Lawrenceville, PA. passed away quietly Sunday October 25th, 2009. Freeman was the son of the late Harry A. and Bessie Short Ferris in Knoxville, PA, August 15th, 1912. Freeman was predeceased by his first wife Doris Skinner Ferris, second Mildred Anderson Ferris and his third wife Marie Young Ferris.Surviving him are his children: Norman (Joann) Ferris of Elmira, Janet (David) Kester of Macedon, NY, Judith Jaworski, and Nancy Ferris both of New Jersey; 5 Grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren; Sister: Lucille LeBoo of Victor, NY; Brother: Merle (Phyllis) Ferris of Henrietta, NY; Several nieces and nephews. Freeman is also predeceased by his brother: H. Wayne Ferris, and his sister; Betty Franks. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Thursday, October 29th, 2009 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 6 Franklin Street, Lawrenceville, PA. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Fairview Cemetery in Port Allegany, PA.Freeman will always be remembered for his kindness, and cheerful spirit. He loved meeting and helping people. He never stopped thinking about creating and inventing something to help others. He owned Ferris garage on south Walnut Street, Elmira, NY, and worked for A&P as a mechanic for a few years before becoming an auto mechanics teacher for BOCES were he later retired.
