Frieda Wantuck

Frieda Wantuck Frieda Wantuck, of West Elmira passed away peacefully at home on April 14, 2014.Frieda was born in Straubing, Germany to the late Bonfatius and Franziska(Putz) Zach.She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Wantuck, her brother, Bonifaz Zach, and sisters, Erna Willett and Irma Willett.She is survived by her sister Gerda Weinzierl of Straubing, Germany.Also surviving her are sister-in-laws Lillian Wantuck, Waterloo, NY, Josephine Burdick, Peyton, CO, Ann Lachuet, Monture Falls, NY and Florence Wantuck, Elmira, nieces Barbara Meier, Staubing Germany, Gudrun Lichtenberger, Bremen, Germany, and nephews Winfried Zach, Duren, Germany, and Melvin and Roy Hodgkiss, Austin, Texas, and special friend Duane Swarthout, Pine City, NY.Frieda lived in Elmira since 1953 when she first arrived from Germany.During her 60 years in Elmira she made many friends who will remember her for her outgoing personality, love of fashion and her spring flower garden.She always had a smile and a spring in her step and was very active with early morning visits to the Holiday Inn to join the many friends she made in the swimming “club.”Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration on Wednesday May 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira.
