Gail Ann Haner

Gail Ann Haner from Elmira, NY, and a 23 year resident of Hilton Head Island, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 6th at the age of 75.She is the daughter of the late John and Lucile Steiner of Elmira.A beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, she is survived by her son, Steven Haner (Sandi) of Tyrone, GA and daughter, Lisa Haner Gifford (Ray) of Latham, NY; seven grandchildren, Timothy, Josiah, Kristin, James, Nicholas, Michael, and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Savanah and Keira; her brothers, Scott and Reid Steiner andher sister, Madge Devine.Gail was widowed in 1983 after being Gene Haner’s ‘sidekick’ for 27 years. Gail was a hostess extraordinaire, she never met a game she didn’t like to play and was a fabulous friend to many. She will be remembered for the wonderful Christmas brunches on the hill, the love she had for her family, friends and her beloved furry friends.There will be a memorial service Thursday at Hilton Head Baptist Church at 10:00.Family will receive friends and relatives at the Olthof Funeral Home in Elmira, NY at 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. on Saturday.May 11, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM a Funeral and Committal Service there Saturday at 5:00 PM Interment will take place on Mondayat Woodlawn National Cemetery.The family would like to thank her church family and neighborhood friends of Hilton Head for being so loving and kind to her.Our fear of her being alone was greatly reduced knowing that she was being watched over by you.
