George W. Messing

Age 93, formerly of Pine City, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2004 at Bethany Manor in Horseheads, NY. He was born February 23, 1910 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Charles and Mary Elizabeth (Curry) Messing. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Helyn (Hammond) Messing; brothers, Karl (Mary Lou) Messing of Leesburg, FL; Edwin Messing of Pine City, NY; Clarence (Jery) Messing also of Pine City, NY; brother-in-law, Philip Hammond of Syracuse, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. George was a Veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country during WW II from 1941 ? 1945. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Monday, January 19, 2004 from 1 to 3 PM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (3 :00 PM)His pastor and friend, the Reverend Cathy Stevenson will officiate. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
