George Mitstifer (1952 - 2013) Of Spring Hill, FL formerly of Millport, NY George E. Mitstifer, age 60 passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, October 04, 2013 after a prolonged battle with brain cancer.He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years Deborah (McAtee) Mitstifer, his beloved daughter Leah and “son” Blair Engel, grandson Hayden and granddaughter Riley, special companion Chico, beloved mother, Grace (Wheeler) Mitstifer; sisters, Marlene Little (Gary), Mary Benjamin (Bryan), Clara Merrick (Paul); brothers,Walter Mitstifer Jr. (Pat), Ralph Mitstifer (Barb) and Clayton Mitstifer (Betty). He was predeceased by his father Walter F. Mitstifer Sr., and special companion Gregger. He is also survived by his beloved father and mother-in-law, Richard “Pops” and Alberta “Ma Bell” McAtee; sisters,Jackie McAtee, Susan (Tom) Schnautz; brothers, Dick, Judd (Kristie) McAtee; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends and very special best friends – Jack & Andrea Engel and family, and Artie Nichols and family. George worked for Bergh’s Oil Elmira, NY. for 25 years. George had a part-time business from 1987 – 2005 as George’s Farrier Service.He met and has been associated with many good friends. He was lucky enough to have two great loving families. They made a difficult time easier for him during his illness. He couldn't have been blessed more. George always looked on the bright side of life. George attended Cornell University receiving a Farrier Certificate. George was also a Cinderella Softball coach, member of the Chemung County Posse Club, an avid Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Bucs football and Tampa Bay Rays baseball fan. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira\Southport on Wednesday ,October 9, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Funeral and Committal Service there at 8:00 PM. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to HPH Hospice Foundation, Donation Department, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, Fl 34667-2455 or to Hayden and Riley Engel’s Education fund with Scholar’s Edge, c/o GTE Financial, Tony Kowalski, 711 E Henderson Ave., Tampa.
