Age 64, of Budd Street, Town of Southport, passed away very unexpectedly on Monday, September 20, 2004 at St. Joseph?s Hospital. He was born August 2, 1940 in Elmira, NY, the son of George F. and the late Alice (Kerrick) Wilson, Sr. George married Shirl Parker on November 20, 1971 in Elmira. They have enjoyed 32 wonderful years of life and love together. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirl; daughters, Christina Woodard (Bob Brewer) of Elmira; Angel (Lee) Odom of Elmira; sons, Jesse Wilson of Elmira; Clifford (Robin) Wilson of Elmira; Gene Wilson-Targash of North Carolina; father, George F. Wilson Sr. of Gillett, PA; brothers, Richard (Regina) Wilson of Wellsburg; Charles (Sue) Wilson of Elmira; sister, Susan (Bill) Burdick of Gillett, PA; special sons-in-law, Glen Thiel of Elmira; Raymond Stermer Jr. of Elmira; brothers-in-law, George (Helen) Parker of North Chemung; Robert (Kathy) Parker of Breesport; Ernest (Rose) Parker of Elmira; Leslie (Becky) Parker of Towanda, PA; Paul (Debbie) Parker of Franklindale, PA; John (Katrina) Parker of Towanda, PA; Charles (Sylvia) Parker of Elmira; David (Mary) Parker of Towanda, PA; sisters-in-law, Margaret (James) Smith of Peoria, AZ; Lenora (Leo) Westbrook of Elmira; Irma (Martin) Daugherty of Elmira; Betty Jean (Joseph) Wilcox of Wysox, PA; very special sister-in-law, Sharon Holecek of Big Flats; special sister-in-law, Lisa Parker of Towanda, PA; very special friend, Rose Mingoia of Amherst, NY; along with several grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. The following loved ones predeceased George: mother, Alice Wilson; brother, Thomas Wilson; sister, Ruth Ann Lowery; son, George Wilson III; brother-in-law, Michael Parker. George owned and operated Tiny Tavern in Southport, NY; worked for Ed McDonald Excavating as backhoe operator for many years. He then owned Wilson Excavating; ?Have Backhoe, Will Travel? was his motto. He also worked for Manchester Pools. He was a former member of the Elmira Moose Club #517, Harry B. Bentley American Legion Post #443 Elmira, and the Elmira Eagles Club #941. George loved his horseshoes and was an avid NASCAR fan with a tremendous love and respect for Dale Earnhardt Sr. and his trademark # 3. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 PM. Funeral Services celebrating George?s life will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM. The Reverend Scott Lowmaster will officiate. The family will provide their own flowers.
