Gerard M. Trosino

September 1, 1942 — April 24, 2005

Age 62, of Elmira, NY passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2005 at the VA nursing home in Bath, NY. Jerry was born September 1, 1942 in Irsina, Italy. Because he was orphaned after WW II, he was placed into an Italian orphanage. In 1951, the Sons of Italy organization brought him to Dante Orphanage outside Philadelphia. In 1954, Jerry and his brother were adopted by Lucy and Earl Trosino. Jerry went to St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School and Devon Preparatory High School. After high school, Jerry enlisted in the Army where he served for twenty years as a surveyor. During his enlistment, he was stationed in France, Japan, Germany, Vietnam and the Fiji Islands. After his retirement from the Army, he earned an Associate Degree in Hotel & Motel Management from Northern Virginia Community College. Consequently, he worked for the Comfort Inn for several years in the DC area. He finally moved to Elmira where he resided at the Grantier Adult Home. His survivors include brother Joseph; sister-in-law, Janet; niece, Amy; along with several aunts and numerous cousins in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Illinois. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Saturday, April 30, 2005 from 11 to 1 PM. Funeral Services honoring Jerry?s life and celebrated by the Reverend Richard Farrell will follow the visitation. (1:00 PM) Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family in St. Peter & Paul?s cemetery with the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad according Mr. Trosino full Military Honors. Instead of flowers, those wishing to express their sympathy can contribute to either the American Red Cross 911 Stowell Street Elmira, NY 14901 or to the Kidney Foundation of Central New York 731 James Street Syracuse, NY 13203.
