HarringtonPurple Heart Recipient Age 90 formerly of South Creek, Wellsburg, NY Passed away on Tuesday July 2, 2013 at Chemung County Nursing Facility.Glenn was born on October 23, 1922 the son of the late Burt and Edith Harrington. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Phyllis and his son, Robert Harrington. Glenn is survived by his niece, Sheila Edwards with her family, Jeffery (Kelli) Edwards, and Joette (Michael) McCawley; niece, Pam (Chris) Matthews; along with several other nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Sean and Scott Harrington and Michele Rodriguez; special friends, Barbara Pfiffer, Sharon Wood, Bob Thomason, Arthur and Madge Grace.Glenn was a United States Army Veteran andPurple Heart recipient of WW II having fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was an avid Square Dancer and member ofthe Relaxed Squares. He retired from the American LaFrance Company where he did the wood work on fire engines; after retiring he continued to enjoy working with wood. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira/Southport on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with Funeral and Committal Service there Monday at 7:00 PM. Deacon Joseph Erway will officiate.Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY with Military Honors accorded at the grave.
