Gloria Elston

Age 62 of Horseheads, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Gloria is survived by her children, Tammy (Cecil Poole) Elston; Shaun (Kim Westrick) Elston; grandchildren, Blake Elston; Peyton Elston; Dorian Elston; sister, Beverly (Fred) Ricks of Tennessee; nieces, Corinna Stanton; Robin (Tony Phillips) Stanton; great nieces, Rachael and Erika Phillips; uncle, George Taylor; and aunt, Sally Taylor. Gloria was predeceased by her father, Richard White and by her mother, Ruth White, who died the day before Gloria. Gloria loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She received her rewards in life by helping others. Gloria retired from Verizon Communications and worked at Eckerd Drug Store on South Main St., in Elmira. To relax, Gloria would do embroidering, scrap booking, or play Mahjongg. She also enjoyed collecting teddy bears, wolves, and angels, which she often gave as gifts. Gloria?s calling hours will be held together with her mother?s at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Sunday, February 19, 2006 from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.Funeral and Committal Service will be held there on Sunday evening at 8:00 PM, with Reverend Ann Mowery officiating.Interment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association:NYS Affiliate, Attention:Heart Gifts, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY13220-3049 in Gloria?s name.
