Gloria E. Yackel

Age 83, of Pine City, NY, passed away on June 16th,2014 after a brief illness. She was born January 13th, 1931 in Guyanoga, NY at the Lynn family homestead, to the late Pearl and James Ayers, and she spent her childhood growing up in Brooklyn, NY.She was predeceased by her husband William (2003) and daughter Patricia Ugolev (2006). Gloria was a stay at home Mom for many years raising her 4 children. In her 40’s she went back to school and became a dental assistant. She then worked for many years with Peter Strumpf, DDS, until her retirement. She is survived by her three sons, William (Amy) of Beaver Dams, NY; Lawrence (Helen) of Placitas, NM and Jeffrey (Doreen) of Elmira, NY. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Gloria loved hearing about her grandchildren and their babies and in recent years she successfully learned how to use her computer and Facebook. She loved being able to see photos of their families and follow their activities online. The family will welcome relatives and friends at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue., Elmira, NY from 12 noon until 2:00pm on June 21st, 2014. Gloria’s funeral service celebrating her life will follow at 2:00 pm. Pastor Laurie Greenlaw will officiate. In lieu of flowers, those wishing can make donations in Gloria’s name to the Susan G.
