Age 55 of Pine City, NY, passed away into peace at his home surrounded by his family July 1st, 2005.Gordon is survived by his mother, Carolyn Stevens of Horseheads, NY; beloved wife of 34 years, Carol; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle (Steven) Chaffee of Hamburg, NY; son, Sean Stevens of Pine City, NY; grandchildren, Evan Chaffee and William Chaffee; brothers, Robert (Marie) Stevens of Odessa, NY and Scott (Donna) Stevens of Elmira, NY; sister, Cynthia Hancock of Freeville, NY; and several nieces and nephews.Gordon was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He was a past president of the NYS Deputies Assoc. and President of the Glen Regional Corvette Club for two years. Gordon began his work in law enforcement as a Correctional Officer at the Chemung County Jail.His career then moved him to Jail Administrator. Shortly after, he became a Deputy Sheriff with Chemung County. After working many years for Chemung County, Gordon retired and became Jail Administrator for Tompkins County for three years.For the past six years he enjoyed selling automobiles for Simmons and Rockwell Car Dealerships. Gordon loved the many friendships he shared, golfing, woodworking, traveling, and good food. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he was a devoted husband and loving companion.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY, Wednesday, July 6th, 2005 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.AMemorial service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1100 W. Church Street, Elmira, NY on Thursday, July 7th, 2005 at 11am..Interment services will be held privately at the Rural Home Cemetery, Big Flats, NY.
