Harry "Bing" E. Bennett, 78, of Elmira, NY passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Bennett; parents, Byron and Olive Bennett; and companion, Lola Sonner. Bing is survived by his children, William (Lynne), Deborah (Steven) Weston, Susan (Jerry) Shoemaker, Thomas (Tammy), Michael (Barb), Peter and Steven Bennett; brothers, Roger (Linda) and David (Linda) Bennett; grandchildren, Daniel Johnson, Kevin, Arielle, Gabrielle and Melissa Bennett, Christina Bean and Drew Weston, Maxwell Mowchan, Alexis Barnes, Kayley Horton and Alison Smith; great-grandchildren, Marcus Bennett, Ayden Bean, Kellen Bean, Evelyn Weston, Juliana Darling, Asher Darling, Blake, Eli and Cole; cousin, William Graul and Barb Gillen; close friends, Jerry and Sandy Sonner; and several nieces and nephews. Bing worked at Thatcher Glass for 24 years, Schweitzer Aircraft for many years and 9 years of dedicated service at Corning Glass before he retired to the lake. He was an avid bowler and hunter. He was a veteran of the Marine Corp. Bing was a wonderful father, brother and grandfather who will be dearly missed. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 10 AM to 12PM with a service to immediately follow at 12 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira.
