Was born December 7, 1921 in Morris, PA the son of Purley and Helen (Tattersall) Comstock, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Elcor Health Services at the age of 85. He married Audrey Bastian October 4, 1943; they have enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. Harry is survived by his loving wife, Audrey; beloved sons and daughter-in-laws, Robert and Nancy Comstock of Horseheads, NY; Gary and Diane Comstock of Gillett, PA; Alan and Mary Comstock of Elmira, NY; much-loved grandchildren, Robert (Tammy) Comstock of Horseheads, NY; Colleen (Jim) Pollen also of Horseheads, NY; Christopher Comstock of Elmira, NY; Jason Comstock (fiance Kristi Case) of Gillett, PA; Jenifer Comstock of Elmira, NY; Sgt. Bryan Comstock of Fort Campbell, KY; adored great grandchildren, Kyle and Darren Pollen of Horseheads, NY; Tyler Comstock of Gillett, PA; Tia and Brandon Comstock of Horseheads, NY; sister-in-law, Dortha (John) Stoppa of Williamsport, PA; special friend, Betty Harter; along withseveral nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father (Purley) in 1922, mother (Helen) in 1985 and brother, W. Raymond in 1973. Harry served proudly in the United States Army with the 243rd Field Artillery Battalion, Headquarters Battery during World War II, (19421945) receiving the following decorations and citations: American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the EuropeanAfricanMiddle Eastern Service Medal. He worked at the following companies: Eclipse Machine (prior to going to war), The Foundry (after returning from war), Spaulding Bakery and Hills Bakery. Harry then worked for Sears & Roebuck Co. from 1959 until his retirement in 1982. At the request of the family all services will be held privately. Interment will also take place privately in St. Peter & Pauls Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Comstock full Military Honors. The family will provide their own flowers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Southern Tier Hospice 11751 East Corning Road Corning, NY 14830.
