Harry E. Hunsinger

May 17, 1921 — June 26, 2006

Was born May 17, 1921 in Dushore, PA the son of the late Harry B. and Agnes (Karge) Hunsinger. He was reunited with his beloved wife, Viola B. (Reinbold) Hunsinger who preceded him in death in 1987, on Monday, June 26, 2006 at the Bath VA Medical Center Nursing Care Unit. His brothers, Bert and Richard Hunsinger; sisters, Allegra Giffen, Violet Dieffenbach and Frances Kinsley; son-in-law, David Taylor predeceased him. He is survived by his loving daughters, Donna Mae Taylor of Elmira, NY; Dawn (B. J.) Dildine also of Elmira, NY; much-loved grandchildren, Duane Taylor, Denise Slusser, Tiffany Dildine and Taylor Dildine; adored great grandsons, Keith and Kyle Slusser and J. J. Dildine; sisters, Evalda (William) Black of Dushore, PA; Emily (Paul) Rohe of Rushville, PA; sister-in-law, Hila Hunsinger of Elmira Heights, NY; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Harry retired from American Bridge in 1983 after 30 + dedicated years of service as a machinist. He was a Staff Sergeant with the US Army proudly serving his country during WW II. Harry was a lifetime member of the Southport Volunteer Fire Department. He had a long-time love of the game of Euchre and played at the Millerton Senior Center often. Cribbage was also another one of his favorite games. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services honoring his life will be held there on Thursday at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Joseph Cotner will celebrate Harrys service. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery Horseheads, NY where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Hunsinger full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in the name of Harry E. Hunsinger may be directed to Southern Tier Hospice 11751 East Corning Road Corning, NY 14830 or to the Holy trinity Lutheran Church 314 West Church Street Elmira, NY 14901. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Southern Tier Hospice and the Nursing Unit # 2 at the Bath VA Medical Center for the love and care given to Harry.
