Age 85, of Mid Ave, Elmira, NY, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2005 at the home of her granddaughter, Barbara Labrecque, where she resided and received the utmost love and care.She was born September 27, 1919 in Swoyersville, PA, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Licina) Kopetchny.Helen was the last surviving member of the Kopetchny Family of Swoyersville.She was predeceased by her loving husband, George Bednar on September 25, 1989. She is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, John and Eileen Bednar of Elmira, NY; much-loved grandchildren, Barbara (William) Labrecque of Elmira, NY; Kristina Bednar also of Elmira, NY; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Sierra Helenka Labrecque of Elmira, NY; special friend, Nancy Comfort of Elmira NY, along with several nieces and nephews.Helen was a communicant of St. Mary?s Church Southside.She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, was an avid New York Yankees fan; but her family and grandchildren came first in her life.In accordance with her wishes, private visitation and funeral services will be held at a time convenient to her family at the Olthof Funeral Home Inc., Elmira, NY, with the Rev. Richard Farrell celebrating her life.Private interment will be held in the Woodlawn National Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Helen?s name may be made to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 E.
