Helen H. Fervan

Age 98, formerly of 523 Liberty Street Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, June 21, 2004 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility, where she had been residing for the last few years. She was born February 19, 1906 in Towanda, PA, the daughter of the late Henry and Julia (Herda) Hemenway. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Leo in 1989 and her beloved son, Jerry in 2000. Her brothers, Howard, Carl, and Ernest, and sister, Grace Guthrie, also predeceased her. She is survived by her sons, Jack (Shirley) Fervan of Avoca, NY; Robert (Catherine) Fervan of Yorktown Heights, NY; grandchildren, Douglas Fervan of Elmira, NY; Mechele (Wayne) Benton and Daniel (Rebecca) Fervan, both of Avoca, NY; Robert L. (Nicole) Fervan Jr. of Yorktown Heights, NY; Patti (Troy) Robertson, Wendy (Cris) Kersey, andAnnette Hobbs, all of Virginia Beach, VA; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Fran and Mickey Morris and Larry Nuss.Helen was a dedicated member of the Riverside United Methodist Church on Spaulding Street and was a wonderful homemaker. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Funeral Services celebrating Helen?s life will be held there following the visitation. (11:30 AM) The Reverend Donald Hoff will officiate. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Riverside United Methodist Church, 559 Spaulding Street, Elmira, NY 14904.
