Formerly of Elmira, age 105, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013. Born near Keuka Lake on August 27, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Lura (Allen) Pepper. She was predeceased (1986) by her husband Howard, two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are sons: Norman (Annice) Griswold, Pine Valley, Sebastian, FL, and Leon (Priscilla) Griswold, Horseheads; daughter: Lois (Henry) Landmesser, Laurens, SC; brother-in-law: William Carleton, Pine City; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; along with nieces and nephews.Helen grew up in Monroeton, PA, graduated from Towanda High School, and Meeker’s Business Institute in Elmira. In 1928 she married Howard Griswold.All the family became part of Elmira Quality Printers.She was the first Business and Professional Women in Elmira’s “Outstanding Business Woman of the Year”.Helen lived her faith as member of Elmira Southside Baptist Church for 82 years, charter member of Emanuel Baptist, Palm Harbor, FL, and past president of Baraca Philathea, a World Wide organization of Sunday School Classes. Family and friends are invited to gather at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Sunday, January 13, 2013, from3:00-4:00PM.
