Helyn L. Messing

Was born December 23, 1921 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Elihu and Harrit (Willard) Hammond, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2006 at Bethany Manor after celebrating her 85th birthday. Her loving husband of 52 years, George W. Messing predeceased her January 16, 2004. She is survived by her brother, Philip Hammond of Camillus, NY; along with numerous nieces and nephews. For many years, Helyn was employed by Travelers Insurance as a secretary and later retired from Buck, Danaher, Ryan and McGlenn Law firm as a dedicated secretary as well. She was a life-member of the Beta Sigma Phi and a faithful member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Thursday, December 28, 2006 from 11:00 to 12:00 noon. Funeral Services honoring her life will be held there following the visitation at noon. The Reverend Susan Husted will celebrate Helyns service.
