Age 83 of Wellsburg, NY, passed away very unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira, NY. He is survived by his son, Jonathan Jenkins at home; daughter, Joan Jenkins (Loren Humphrey) of Lowman, NY; sister, Florence Bunn of Spanaway, WA; sister-in-law, Shirley Snowburg of Pine City, NY; brother-in-law, John Snowburg of Jonesborough, TN; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Herold will also be missed by special friends, Mary Beth Savino and Brad Beaver.Herold was predeceased by his best friend and wife of 50 years, Donna; sisters, Frances Deegan and Marjorie Estep; brothers, James Jenkins and David Jenkins; sister in-law, Marie Estrada and Susan Lovell; brothers-in-law, Lewis Snowburg, George Snowburg, and Holly Snowburg.Herold was a proud United States Army veteran of WW II.He also was an avid rattlesnake hunter helping organize the Morris Rattlesnake Hunt, still held yearly in Morris, PA.Herold enjoyed NASCAR racing with his favorite being Cale Yarborough. Retiring after 55 years of service in the Carpenter's Local #281, Herold spent his time "tinkering" in his woodworking shop or, on many an afternoon, enjoying "a nip" of his homemade wine in the company of friends.
