Age 95 passed away quietly in her sleep on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 in St. Joseph's Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, Elmira.Hortense was born November 16, 1909 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Harry and Kathryne (Costello) Campbell.She was predeceased by her husband, William S. Hancock on May 5, 1973 and her son, Dr. William H. Hancock.Hortense was the manager of the Masonic Lunch Room in the former Masonic Lodge in Elmira for many years, and a long-time member of Centenary United Methodist Church.A wonderful knitter, she knitted well over 1,000 baby bonnets for the newborns in both Arnot Ogden and St. Joseph´s hospitals over the years. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn J. La Comb of Poughkeepsie, NY; sons, Robert G. and Priscilla Hancock of Brightwaters, NY;Bruce Hancock of Bridgeton, ME; manygrandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Thursday, July 21, 2005 from 12to 2 PM, with funeral services immediately following at 2 pm.The Rev.
