Age 79 of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. She was born March 13, 1931 in South Bend, IN, to the late Melvin O. and Ida V. Hickman in Mishawaka, IN. She was a graduate from Beaver College, now known as Arcadia University in Glenside, PA where she earned a degree in Architectural Engineering. She was later employer by American LaFrance in Elmira, NY where she designed the Airport Fire Truck used to extinguish airplane fires around the world today and later joined IBM Corporation of Endicott, NY. In addition she was an interior designer and decorated many Elmira businesses including Chemung Canal Trust Company offices and Kennedy Valve offices. She is survived by her cousins; Elaine Walters, Donald Richard Wolf, Max Wolf of the Selinsgrove, PA, area Floyd Quiggle, Sandra Evans Clark of Port St. Lucie, FL; Betty Jean Hagedorn of S. Bend, IN and Carol Jean McClure. Family and friends are invited to call Sunday, May 2, 2010 at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira/Southport from 12:45 PM until 3:00 PM. The Zonta Club of Elmira, NY will hold a memorial service at 12:45.
