Irene Fortner Langdon July 25, 1922 - January 4, 2015 Irene Langdon grew up in Brentwood, California.She attended school there, graduating from Liberty High School. After graduation, she travelled around the United States, working for the airlines and as a nanny.She later returned to California to attend The University of the Pacific in Stockton. However, her first love was art, and so she concentrated on becoming a talented painter.In her twenties, while travelling to the East Coast, she met her future husband, Jervis Langdon, Jr. who, she often said, was the love of her life.They married, and moved to Washington, D.C.There she continued her art studies, and many of her paintings were displayed in her homes. Mrs. Langdon’s great joy in life was helping others, and she immediately upon moving to Washington, D.C. became a driver for the American Red Cross.She later became the director of hospital volunteers in almost every city in which Mr. Langdon’s work took him.Until shortly before her death, she worked in volunteer activities at Park Church in Elmira, NY, her home church.Mrs. Langdon leaves behind two sons, Halsey (Jacklyn), and Charles of Baltimore, MD, a sister, Joyce Degan of San Jose, CA and a brother, Clifford Fortner, of Brentwood, CA.
