Irene H. OstranderOf Elmira, NY Was born November 20, 1921 in Elmira, the daughter of the late William and Elsie (Squires) Hetherington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 93. Her loving husband of 64 years, Arthur Leroy Ostrander preceded her in death April 4, 2002. Her sisters: Virginia Makovitch and Dorothy Sheive also predeceased her. Irene is survived by her daughters: Diane Plouse of Milan, PA; Carolyn (Les) Hartshorn of Knoxville, TN; brother: Ralph Hetherington of Warren Center, NY; beloved grandchildren: Kim (Steve) Nicholson, Teri Acker, Sharlene Ruest (fiancée Sam Tombs); M' Liss (Ed) Gillen, Sean Hartshorn, Hether (Chad) Lehman; along with 9 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, 2 great great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Irene retired from Iszard's after several years of dedicated service. She loved to play cards, going to Tioga Downs and enjoyed all of the friends she made at the Pine City Senior Center. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Funeral services honoring her life will follow the visitation at 2 PM. Reverend Laurie Greenlaw will officiate. Interment will take place at the convenience of her family in the Maple Grove Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved Arthur.
