Iva E. "Betty" Brown

Age 90, Gillett, PA. WentHome to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2011. She was born on January 15, 1921, the daughter of the late Oscar S. and Jennie (Houser) Ernest. Survived by loving husband of 64 years, Lewis A. Brown, daughters, Linda D. (Raymond) MacAuslan, Kathleen A. Baker; sons, James L. (Virginia) Brown and Gerald E. (Faith) Brown; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Sister, Flora (John) Newton, brother, Kenneth (Kathryn) Ernest. several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Lawrence, James and Robert Ernest. Long-time member of Mosherville Bible Church and the Gillett Senior Citizens Organization. Shewas a woman of faith, devoted to her church where for many years she taught Sunday School,Vacation Bible School, and Child Evangelism Release Time classes. She had a gift of story-telling and enjoyedusing Flannel Graphto illustrate Bible stories. She sang in the church choir for many years. Betty was also a leader of the 4-H Stitch and Chat club. She was adventurous, a great Pennsylvania Dutch cook, and she enjoyed canning and freezing fruits, vegetables, jellies and pickles. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY, on Tuesday August 23, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Funeral Service Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Mosherville Bible Church, Mosherville, PA.
