Ivor E. Thomas

Ivor E. Thomas Loving husband, father and grandfather Age 80, was born May 7, 1936 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the son of the late Ivor A. and Gertrude (Wheeler) Thomas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Corning Centersurrounded by his loving family. His grandsons, Alex "Oakie" Scott and Jacob "Jaker" Thomas also preceded him in death. Ivor is survived by his loving wife of 59 years: Elsie M. (Swanson) Thomas; sons: Michael (Pamela Wyant) Thomas of Waterloo, NY; Patrick (Joanie Gannon) Thomas of Germany; daughters: Cindi Thomas Scott of Elmira, NY; Marjorie (Robert) Macdonald of Chantilly, VA; grandchildren: Benjamin Thomas, Emily Scott, Patrick G. Thomas, Jonathon Thomas and Andrew Thomas; brothers: William R. Thomas of Nashua, NH; Rev. Frank L. Thomas of Kirkville, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. Ivor was a retired teamster with Local #529. He was a life member of the Golden Glow Volunteer Fire Department, a 32 degree Master Mason Old Oak Lodge #253 F & AM raised April 9, 1977. From 1968 to 1980 he was very active with the Boy Scouts of America Pack & Troop #14 Golden Glow. He has been an avid Buffalo Bills fan since 1959. Ivor loved fishing in the 1000 Islands and camping on the Seneca Cayuga Canal (Waterloo, NY). At his request there will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to gather at the family home, 25 Hazelwood Ave., Elmira, NY, on Saturday, February 11 from 12:00 PM (noon) to 6:00 PM forIvor's Celebration of Life. His brother, Reverend Frank Thomas will officiate. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira/Southport, NY.
