Jack G. Buchanan

Of Bentley Creek, PA Passed away on Saturday September 6, 2003 after a long struggle against esophageal cancer.He was born August 31, 1930 in Elmira, NY the son of Ceylon (Pete) and Estella Keeney Buchanan.Jack served in the United States Coast Guard before returning to Elmira where he was employed as salesman at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and several auto dealerships. He retired from Ward LaFrance in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Catherine (Matteson) Buchanan, son, Marc and daughter-in-law, Peggy and their children Graeme, Nelle and Tess of Concord, CA, step-sons;William Matteson of Bath, NY, Michael Matteson and his wife, Therese of Elmira, NY and their children, Matthew and his wife Mikki and daughter Mary Ashley of NC, Brian, Catherine of Elmira, NY. Jack is also survived by his granddaughter, Laura Mangano and her family of Rochester, NY, sisters in-law and brothers in-law, Dorothy and Lawrence (Sonny) Avery of Elmira, Elizabeth and Joseph Clark of Elmira, Gladys Warren of Hammondsport, NY, Margaret Gray of Elmira, aunts & uncle, Esther and Roy Keeney of NC, Agnes Dildine of Elmira, several nieces and cousins.It was Jack?s request that there be no calling hours and a private funeral service be held at the convenience of the family. Those wishing to remember Jack may do so through memorials to the Guthrie Hospice, RR 1, Box 154, Towanda, PA 18848. The family would like to extend a special ?Thank You? to Guthrie Hospice Services for their care and compassion and Dr. Thomas McDonald and Nurse Beth. Jack wishes to say ?Goodbye? to Bob (Ruth) Nelson, Bob Redder and his buddies at Burger King.
